ORE

 (Overseas Registration Examination)

Overview

The ORE is an examination that overseas qualified dentists must pass to register with the General Dental Council (GDC) in the United Kingdom. Registration allows dentists to practice dentistry unsupervised in the UK. The ORE assesses both clinical skills and knowledge.

Part 1:

A written exam designed to test the application of knowledge to clinical practice. Consists of two papers: Paper A and Paper B. Topics covered include dentistry aspects relevant to clinical practice.

Part 2:

A clinical exam where candidates demonstrate practical clinical skills. Includes both oral examinations and rapid reporting sessions. Candidates interpret radiological images and provide accurate reports.

Eligibility and Registration:

Qualified dentists from outside the European Economic Area whose qualifications are not recognized in the UK are eligible for the ORE. Fellowship is awarded by examination, and successful candidates can use the letters ORE after their name.

Results:

Results are available after candidates are informed of their individual results. Candidates are allowed up to four attempts at each part of the ORE. Part 2 must be passed within five years of first sitting Part 1.
