Overview

The MRCP (UK) diploma is essential for physicians training in a medical specialty in the UK. The examination is conducted by the three Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom. Successful candidates who pass all three parts are eligible to apply for the award of the MRCP (UK) Diploma.

Examination Components:

 MRCP (UK) Part 1 Examination:

Consists of two three-hour multiple-choice question papers. Covers knowledge and understanding of clinical sciences. Format: Best of five questions.

MRCP (UK) Part 2 Written Examination:

Comprises three three-hour multiple-choice question papers. Focuses on diagnosis, investigation, management, and prognosis of patients. Format: Best of five questions.

MRCP (UK) Part 2 Clinical Examination (PACES):

Involves a series of five clinical stations. Each station is assessed by two independent examiners. Evaluates clinical skills, communication, and patient management.

 Membership and Diplomas:

Successful candidates who pass all three parts are invited to attend an MRCP (UK) new members ceremony at the Royal College of Physicians. Elected members receive the MRCP (UK) Diploma. Diplomas can be obtained during the ceremony or by post. Delivery timescales may vary, especially for addresses outside the UK

Election to Membership:

 To be elected to membership, candidates must pass all parts of the MRCP (UK) and complete a form of faith. The form of faith verifies eligibility for membership.

Diploma Delivery:

 Diplomas posted within the UK use the ‘signed for’ service provided by Royal Mail. Diplomas destined for addresses outside the UK are sent by normal post. Candidates should ensure their correspondence details are accurate to avoid delays.

The MRCP (UK) Specialty Certificate Examinations (SCEs)

 It assess physicians’ expertise in specific medical specialties. Developed under the aegis of the MRCP (UK) Central Office, SCEs cover various fields such as Acute Medicine, Dermatology, Endocrinology, and more. Passing an SCE demonstrates specialized knowledge and competence within a chosen specialty.

Eligibility and Recognition:

Physicians pursuing higher training or specialization can take SCEs. Successful completion adds value to professional portfolios and is recognized internationally.It assess physicians’ expertise in specific medical specialties. Developed under the aegis of the MRCP (UK) Central Office, SCEs cover various fields such as Acute Medicine, Dermatology, Endocrinology, and more. Passing an SCE demonstrates specialized knowledge and competence within a chosen specialty.
